A small family from Dulwich with a bicycle, a trailer, and a slightly obsessive love of clean kitchens and green spaces.
How Sponge on Wheels started
It began with a walk to Dulwich Park and a queue of cleaning vans idling along the road. We'd been cleaning homes for friends and neighbours for years, and we kept asking the same question: why does keeping a home clean have to make the street dirtier?
So we did the slightly mad thing. We bought a bicycle trailer, swapped every harsh chemical for a plant-based one, replaced throwaway wipes and bottles with refillables and reusables, and drew a two-mile circle around Dulwich that we could comfortably pedal. Sponge on Wheels — and our little team of Spongies — was born.
We're family-owned and family-run, which means the people you message on WhatsApp are the same people who show up (slightly rosy-cheeked from the ride) at your door.
We love our green, beautiful land
Dulwich Woods, Peckham Rye, the Horniman Gardens, One Tree Hill — we're lucky to live somewhere this green. Keeping it that way is built into how we work.
